Meet Taciana from Portland, OR! Born and bred in Brazil but living in the US for the past 28 years – her heart always in both places. Social Worker by day and an aspiring Knitting Pattern Designer in her free time.
What are your favorites right now?
Yarn Store: Every time we travel I try to go to the local knitting store and I have loved every single one of them. Starlight Knitting Society in SE Portland a local favorite!
Yarn: Quince&Co with Owl and Lark
Why do you knit? I knit because my day is not complete until I see my kids, my husband, talk to my family, and knit – if only for 15 minutes. For me knitting is like a good medicine that makes everything better. I love art and see knitting as a daily opportunity to express my creativity and the artistic side of my heart.
Most challenging project (and why?): A sweater I made for my daughter a few years ago, because I really wanted it to fit perfectly and also make sure it was exactly what she wanted … the challenge was more than just the pattern!
What’s your new favorite thing?: I’m a little obsessed with Iceland, “Icelandic Handknits” book by Helene Magnusson and Icelandic yarn and I owe it to one of my favorite knitters ever Lori Ann Graham. My dream is to go there on a knitting retreat someday.
