Meet Chelsea! Chelsea is an Oregon girl obsessed with knitting and fibers.
The photo on the left was taken in Bend, OR, on the Deschutes River Trail by Chelsea’s brother @ryhansen who is a photographer.
What are your favorites right now?
Yarn Store: I love Knitting Bee in Portland. They have a wide selection of yarns, and I constantly find myself buying too much when I visit!
Yarn: Despondent Dyes! – hand dyed in Corvallis, OR. It has the best names and gorgeous colors. I own nearly every colorway of it.
Why do you knit?: I knit because I love creating things. Watching the yarn get shaped into sweaters (and socks and cowls and whatever else) fills me with such happiness. I also adore the feeling of cozy woolen garments, so having the freedom to make those is satisfying.
Most challenging project (and why?): I have a colorwork sweater that will be the death of me – I’ve had to restart it three times due to tension issues with my stranded floats. It’s sitting in my project bag and I pull it out when I feel ambitious.
What’s your new favorite thing?: My new favorite thing is something that is quite old – I recently picked up a vintage handknit sweater coat and I’m in love! It’s peach and fuzzy and absolutely wonderful. The creator hand-sewed a lining into it which makes it feel even more glamorous.
