Meet Devon from Vermont, USA!
Devon is the editor of Rib Magazine, a men’s focused knitting magazine. He lives in rural Vermont with his wife, and together they host the Handmade and Woolen YouTube channel. He dreams of one day owning a flock of sheep.
What are your favorites right now?
Yarn Store: My favorite yarn store was Gauge + Tension in Brooklyn, NY, which is now sadly closed. Michele Wang, the owner, did an amazing job curating products for her store and creating a place that welcomed all knitters. (I also learned to spin on a wheel there!)
Yarn: I finally got my hands on a few skeins of Daughter of a Shepherd by Rachel Atkinson. Swoon!
Why do you knit? I started to knit seriously when I lived in Brooklyn. We did not have enough space in our tiny apartment for me to pursue other facets of my artistic practice. Knitting was a way I could be creative in a small space. I also find it really relaxing.
Most challenging project (and why)? I find small circumference knitting fiddly. I would much rather knit sweaters.
What’s your new favorite thing? Over the last few months I have really got into weaving. Right now I am working up to weaving fabric that I can sew into garments.
