Meet Kate from Bogota, Colombia!
Kate discovered knitting during her last year of law school. She is currently trying her luck as a beginner knitwear designer.
What are your favorites right now?
Yarn store: La Grange a Laine in Strasbourg, France. It’s such a cozy place, and it became sort of my home during the year I spent in Strasbourg.
Yarn: Actually it’s a yarn with no name, as far I know, sorry. It’s a 100% Peruvian wool I got in Bogota, to work with US sizes 11-15 and it just feels amazing. I do tend to prefer bulkier yarns, just because they are fast to work with.
Why do you knit? Because it makes me feel empowered and part of a community. I’m in control of the lovely things I create, and that is everything to me.
Most challenging project? My wedding dress. I designed it from scratch, and it was my first knitwear design. I had a timeline to comply to and my wedding day was at stake! I felt the pressure, but still enjoyed the challenge, and I loved the end result and the compliments I got!
What’s your new favorite thing? My new knitting bullet journal! It’s my special bullet journal for my knitting projects and I can sketch, write down ideas, track designs and wip! I just started one a month ago, and it’s making everything much less complicated!
