Meet Betty from Cornwall, UK! 🇬🇧 @betty_knits
Betty is a knitting vlogger and slow fashion believer.
What are your favorites right now?
Yarn Store: My local wool shop called The Wool Basket I love to support local shops on our high street and this one has a brilliant selection. I do buy quite a bit of wool online too though!
Yarn: I love a cashmere blend, its so soft! Currently the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino range is a favorite. I also love the Debbie Bliss Mia range of wool and cotton blends.
Why do you knit? I love knitting and have done since I was 15. It’s so relaxing to do something creative with your hands – your mind can switch off! I’m also amazed that you can turn a ball of string into something wearable or a blanket or socks, it’s such a satisfying transformation.
Most challenging project? I’ve just completed my first raglan sleeved cardigan and though it gave me a few headaches along the way, I am very proud of myself for following the pattern correctly and making myself a lovely cardigan to wear (the yellow one I have on in the photo). I went off-pattern a tiny bit at the end and crocheted the edge and button loops, I like to put my own twist on things when I can! I’d always been a little bit terrifies of patterns and avoided them for years using guess work to knit scarves, blankets and cushions covers instead, but I think I’m a convert now!
What’s your new favorite thing? I’ve been making videos about my knitting projects. It’s helped me challenge myself creatively with my knitting and given me a chance to connect with a bigger community of other knitters online. I’m really enjoying the feedback I’m getting!
